Happy Morning

Hayden and daddy had some alone time last night while I went to see the Lippizzaner Stallions with some friends. By all accounts, it was a successful evening for all. I had a great time spending time with friends, watching horses and being out of the house...Shane and Hayden had a good time reading electrical wiring books and taking naps!

This morning Hayden has been extra chatty, super smiley and wonderfully cute. It was a great time to video his baby noises and take pictures of his smiles. He has started to suck his thumb when he gets tired...he sucks his left thumb, just like I used to when I was little. Of course, we had to take pictures of this too...

This weekend is Labor Day Weekend...a three day weekend. It is also the Inter-Mountain Fair over in McArthur. I hope to be able to take Shane and Hayden over to the fair to see the pigs, cows, sheep, rabbits, horses etc. I think he will have a lot of fun. We'll see if we make it...

Hayden's "Bear Bum" Morning

These were taken this morning during Hayden's usual morning exercise. He loves to play in the morning sun on our bed and talks the whole time...I wonder who he takes over for all the verbal noise he makes?!!!!

First Time In His Big Boy Bed

...and it was a huge, huge success.

Shane put the bed together last night and I made it up this morning. It looks wonderful!! Hayden seems to appreciate it!

Apologies...

...it has been a crazy week and I have been unable to take pictures, much less post them. So here are, again, some very overdue pictures. These were taken this morning. The picture of Hayden and I was taken by Shane right before he went to work. Hayden and I slept in until 8:30!! I cannot believe it!! Well, it has a lot to do with a very late night on both our parts (Shane's too) as we went to Redding last night as a family to go grocery shopping and pick up some bits'n'pieces...including Hayden's new crib!! Yes, Hayden is going to be moving out of his hammock and in to his big boy bed soon. Ahhhhh, he's growing up.

Hayden and I are staying home from work today. It has been slow over at the store, so I have decided to get some work done from home instead. Staying home will save carting Hayden to work and save on my gas/petrol. I am excited to have a quiet day around the house.

He's Going To Be A Red-Head...

...of some kind; maybe, a strawberry blond...

I got my first full night sleep last night...Shane took the whole night shift using milk that I had pumped before going to bed. It is the first full night that I have had since being 7.5 months pregnant (about 15 weeks ago)!! It was much needed, and much appreciated. Shane said the night went pretty smoothly and Hayden woke up at 1:30am (and went promptly back to sleep without needing to eat), 3:30am (where Hayden ate and went back to sleep) and then finally at 6-ish.
I wish I could say I feel completely revived, but I am so tired that I am afraid I will never catch up!! It was nice to be able to completely switch off every part of my brain and not have to listen for Hayden.

Evening Trip To Lake Margaret

There is a nearby reservoir (a man made lake to be used as irrigation water by a local ranch/rice fields) called Lake Margaret. This year it has completely drained/dried out. Shane, Hayden, Boone and I went for a walk to see and used it as an excuse to get out of the hot house.
Boone had great fun playing in the left over ponds of water and the thick mud they had surrounding them. At one point he chased a whole flock of geese...just because he could.
Hayden seemed to enjoy being out in the cool of the mountains and stayed awake for the walkabouts.

Life After Shots

Hayden and I took the day off of work Wednesday following his shots. Hayden was a little fussy and I was concerned he would disturb my co-workers. To be honest though, I really enjoyed spending the day at home with him and cuddling him to sleep.

We are in the middle of a heat wave right now...it is reaching triple digits everyday. It is just too hot. It did not cool down last night until the early hours of this morning. Bring on Autumn is all I can say!!
These pictures were taken this morning before heading to work...he just seems to change a little more everyday.

First Round Of Shots

These pictures were taken Monday night while Shane and Hayden enjoyed their nightly ritual of bath time. And no, we do not wash Hayden in dish soap!! We give him his bath at the kitchen sink...there is dish soap there...it is not used on the baby!!

Hayden had his first "real" doctor visit yesterday. He is now 12lbs 12oz (yup, a regular chunk!) and 23 inches long. He was wonderful; although, I felt like I betrayed him when I helped the nurse pin him down on the bed to give him his shots. Oh man, did he scream. Bright red in the face and tears streaming. It was heart breaking. He did calm down relatively quickly and spent the rest of the day sleeping and nursing. He had a good night last night and I am hoping he is feeling like himself today.

Hmmmmmm...

...you just have to wonder if I have jinxed my whole day by dressing my son in this shirt...

On the plus side, Hayden has made a new friend this morning. He just lays there and tells him many stories while his new friend sings him lullabies. Thanks to Sam, Freddie, Sarah and Des for sending Hayden his new friend all the way out from England!!

Nice, Relaxing Weekend

This weekend was the Cutting Horse Show over in McArthur. Shane and I took Hayden and Boone over last night to watch the Brideless Cutting event. It was great to watch, the competitors were in fancy dress and the announcer was hilarious. Shane and I had a great evening out...Hayden fell asleep and Boone was annoyed to be on a leash; but, Shane and I had fun! There was a great BBQ at the Cutting Show. Shane and I got to eat dinner with Brenda and Dale while enjoying the music from the DJ.
This morning, Shane and I took the kids back over to the show where we got to watch the field dog trials for an hour. Boone was pretty happy this time as he got to watch the dogs work the big dogs (cows to you and us!) around 4 obstacles. Hayden, once again, slept through the fun! We went out to lunch and then came home for a family nap!!
Hayden is 10 weeks old today...or 2.5 months...however, he has now grown enough (mainly in weight, not as much in length) that he needs to wear 3-6 month old clothing! Our little boy is growing up so fast!

Bath Time

Shane has been coming home from work or studying every night around 8pm so that he can give Hayden his nightly bath. It has become the daddy and Hayden activity of the day. It is fun to watch them together...
